Sweet- and Sour red Cabbage



1 onion, diced
1 cup water
3 Tbsps. butter
3 Tbsps. brown sugar
9 cups shredded red cabbage  
1 Tbsps. caraway seed
1 large tart apple, diced
1 ¼ tsp. salt
3 Tbsps. vinegar   
¼ tsp. pepper
1/3 cup seedless raisins
Cook onion in butter 5 minutes. Add cabbage; cover, and cook 5 minutes longer. Add remaining ingredients; cover; simmer 10 minutes. Serves 6.
