Apple Stuffing-for poultry
Peel, quarter, and core 8 large tart apples. Put the apples in a saucepan, add ½ cup cold water, cover, and cook the apples until they are tender but not broken. Cool. Add 2 cups dry bread crumbs, 1- ½ tablespoons sugar, 2 tablespoons melted butter, and 1 egg. Toss the stuffing thoroughly but gently.
