2 Tbsp. brown sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 cup molasses
1 1/3 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt 1 cup bran
2/3 cup buttermilk
3/4 cup raisins
- Cream the shortening and sugar; add the egg and beat well.
- Blend in the vanilla and molasses.
- mix together the flour, baking soda, salt, and bran and add alternately to the creamed mixture with the buttermilk
- Fold in raisins.
- Prepare 12 muffin cups with "bakers grease", and fill them approximately 2/3 full with batter.
- Bake in 400F oven for 15-18 minutes.
